
Julio Cabrera
For over three decades, Cuban-born Julio Cabrera has been working as a Cantinero Bartender around the world. His career has taken him to Italy, Slovenia, Cancun, and most recently Miami — where he now calls home and is the co-owner of the award-winning Cafe La Trova. Over the years he’s won numerous awards and has created some of the country’s most well known cocktail menus including Nizuc Luxury Hotel in Cancun, Ball & Chain, Seagrape, Dolce Italian at The Gale, The Loews Hotel Miami, World Class Bar on Celebrity Cruises. He was the MixItUp “The Ultimate Mixology Challenge” U.S. winner in New York 2011, The Mixing Star U.S. winner in Las Vegas 2012, Diageo World Class USA Finale first runner up in New York 2013, and was 2013 Most Imaginative Bartender. With his consulting company Red Shaker, Julio has done the cocktail program for several hotels and bars around the world, such as and some others. In 2019, Cabrera opened his bar Café La Trova, a dream come true, where he keeps Cantinero-style bartending alive and he was named 2019 American Bartender of the Year at Tales of the Cocktail spirited awards.
