The Negroni is the most famous aperitif cocktail. It’s perfect before a meal because of his ingredients, which are richly infused with spices, herbs, and roots. There are properties that help the stomach get ready for the meal. These spices and herbs allow for a bold and bitter, yet refreshing flavor profile. It was created at the Caffe Casoni in Florence, Italy in 1919 by the bartender Folco Scarselli, who in response to the Count Camillo Negroni’s request to make his usual drink (bitters and sweet vermouth) stronger. He did so by adding gin to it. Making the recipe as easy to be remembered as to be enjoyed: equal parts of gin, sweet vermouth and Aperitif Bitter!
Last year this drink celebrated its 100th birthday by being mixed and enjoyed all over the world in all the possible flavor combinations and interpretations!
