If you’ve ever visited Sweet Liberty, then you probably know exactly who Shauna O’Neil is — she’s hard to miss as she’s one of the award-winning bar’s OG bartenders. In 2019, Miami New Times named her one of Miami’s Top Ten Bartenders. Her extensive knowledge of spirits (which has earned her a Bar 5 certification aka the one of the highest honors in the bar world) should come as no surprise since she credits the great John Lermayer as the best mentor she could ever have. She’s worked at neighborhood favorites such as Clarke’s Irish Pub, handled crazy amounts of tequila at Bodega, and has perfected her skills at Sweet Liberty, the bar co-owned by Lermayer before his death. In an industry where career bartenders are predominately men, O’Neil has never had a problem holding her own behind the stick. She makes a killer Irish coffee and can’t be beat when it comes to a Ramos Gin Fizz challenge.
